

Oregon native Rob Scheps is an acclaimed saxophonist whose career spans jazz, classical, theater, and popular music. A graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music, he has led his own ensembles—including the Rob Scheps Core-tet—and performed with renowned groups such as the Gil Evans Orchestra and the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra. Scheps spent 13 years as Principal Saxophonist with the Oregon Symphony, has appeared on Broadway (Cats, Miss Saigon), and performed with legendary artists including Aretha Franklin and Ray Charles. He has recorded on over 35 albums, including the acclaimed Comencio and Live at Smalls. Tonight’s performance, Rob Scheps: Coltrane at 100, celebrates the enduring legacy of John Coltrane and features Rob Scheps on saxophone and flute, Randy Halberstadt on piano, and Phil Sparks on bass.
